LONDON: Shocking visuals emerged showing a youngster being mauled by a tiger inside a zoo at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Following the incident, access to the park was temporarily suspended.

According to South Yorkshire Police, information reached around 1:35 PM on Saturday that a young man had entered the tiger enclosure. The tiger subsequently attacked him. Although an emergency medical team arrived to treat the critically injured man, their efforts were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities launched an investigation into the incident.

Following the scary set of events, some among the populace came with a request to euthanise the beast. However, Yorkshire Wildlife Park clarified that the tiger involved in the attack—an Amur (Siberian) tiger named Altai—belongs to an endangered species, and therefore, killing the animal is out of the question.

The 'Land of the Tigers' zone in this park features a special setup that allows visitors to observe tigers from close quarters. Visitors can view the animals from an elevated walkway spanning approximately 300 meters. The area is designed to mimic a natural forest environment, complete with grasslands and a pond featuring a waterfall. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, following the widespread circulation of footage on social media.
