NEW DELHI: Security has been beefed up in New Delhi in the wake of the Tiranga march announced by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Reports say a special team of the Delhi Police has been arranged for 24-hour observation. An alert has also been issued at the Delhi border. Amid tightening security in the national capital, the police took several NSUI activists into custody early Friday morning for protesting in front of the Parliament Street Police Station.

Abhijeet Dipke had called for a gathering at Central Park with the tricolor flag on October 16 at 5:00 pm. In view of this protest, a decision has been taken to deploy around 20,000 security personnel, including paramilitary forces, across various locations to beef up security.

As part of strengthening security, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has informed that Central Park will remain closed on October 16 and 17.

The action was taken following directives from the Delhi Police to prevent unauthorized entry and ensure safety. Prohibitory orders (Section 163 of the BNSS / Section 144) have also been imposed in Connaught Place and its neighboring areas. Authorities stated that these precautionary measures have been implemented to maintain law and order and to ensure public safety.

The CJP has called for a Tiranga March protest, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the suspension of the SIR. The new protest was called by Abhijeet Dipke following the detention of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka on allegations of violating law and order.

Dipke had clarified the other day that the purpose of the protest was to hoist the national flag, which is not a crime. He had also asked whether Narendra Modi would shut down these 100 locations if they announced plans to conduct the Tiranga Yatra in 100 places.

Following this, the Delhi Police informed the CJP that 11 people would be allowed to protest. They have also directed that the names of these 11 leaders be provided. The police further specified that permission would be granted to protest with the flag for a short period at a designated spot in Connaught Place. The Delhi Police decided to allow a few people to protest after the Delhi High Court refused to restrain the CJP from organizing the protest.
