NEW DELHI: The BJP has targeted the Congress ahead of the INDIA bloc’s rally scheduled for November 1 at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan to protest alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. “Sorry to break it to you, all anti-Indian forces, BUT... MODI KAHI NAHI JAAYEGA,” the BJP said in a post on its official X account.
The post came amid a political controversy over a remark made by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kharge had said, “Modi ka baap bhi jayega,” in response to an audience member who insisted that Modi would not leave office. The BJP’s post echoed the exchange.
Meanwhile, traders in Delhi have urged the Congress to postpone the rally until after the festive season, citing concerns that traffic restrictions and possible disruptions around central Delhi markets could affect business.
The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), headed by Brijesh Goyal, has written to Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, urging him to reschedule the rally until after November 10. The traders’ body has cited the potential impact on business during the peak festive shopping period.
Kharge said on October 26 that the Congress leadership would consider the traders’ appeal and discuss a solution. The rally remained scheduled for November 1 in the latest reports reviewed, with its possible postponement still under consideration.
