Mini Cooper involved in the accident, accused Suhail Sajeev

KOCHI: An audio message of Joel, the third accused in the Nedumbassery Mini Cooper accident, has emerged implicating Suhail Sajeev, the first accused. The police got the voice message that Joel sent to a friend at 9:25 am on the day of the accident.

‘We went to a bar and consumed liquor. We had also consumed alcohol earlier. I also had a beer. On the way back, the car was driven at an extremely high speed. It hit a scooter, and all three people were thrown off. Ninav told Ameen and me to leave. All three died on the spot. Oh, I still haven't recovered from that shock. Suhail was heard saying that his father would take care of everything. When the locals heard that, they attacked him. Ninav was also beaten,’ says the audio message.

The audio message surfaced ahead of the Ernakulam District Court's verdict on the accused’ bail pleas, scheduled for Wednesday. The accused have been in judicial custody for 14 days. The defence has demanded that bail should not be denied any longer.

The accident claimed the lives of Devika, from Thazhe Veedu in Madakkimala, Kalpetta; M P Gopika, from Mullankuzhi House in Edakkurissi, Mannarkkad, and Iyyas, from Kanakamanchal, Sullia. The three victims died after the Mini Cooper driven at high speed by a 19-year-old under the influence of alcohol, rammed into their scooter.

The accident happened on October 11 near Athani Vaalepuram at the airport road in Nedumbassery.
