Policeman shot dead in terror attack in Kashmir, ‘The Resistance Front’ claims responsibility

SRINAGAR: A policeman was shot dead in an attack by terrorists on a police team at Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists opened fire on the police at Lal Chowk in Anantnag around 12.30 pm. The dead has been identified as head constable Aashiq Hussain Qureshi (35). The attack was on a team of officers deployed on Amarnath Yatra security duty.


Aashiq Hussain, who was shot, was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag, but his life could not be saved. The Lashkar-e-Taiba's shadow outfit ‘The Resistance Front' claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media post. Security forces have launched a search operation to trace the terrorist. Security forces have been deployed extensively in Anantnag city as the Amarnath Yatra continues. The Yatra has been suspended for the last four days due to bad weather in Jammu and Kashmir.
