BENGALURU: A 24-year-old man suffered serious injuries after a zipline cable snapped, causing him to fall nearly 40 feet during an adventure activity at a private resort in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district. The accident took place at Sterling River Resort in Dandeli, where the victim, identified as Kubera Surapura, was taking part in a zipline ride. According to reports, the accident was caused by a failure in the cable system. The victim's family has accused the resort of negligence and alleged that poor safety measures led to the accident.
The incident occurred on July 3, when the safety lock reportedly failed during the zipline ride, causing Kubera to fall to the ground. He suffered multiple fractures and severe nerve injuries in the accident. He has since undergone several surgeries.
The family also alleged that the resort failed to take adequate safety precautions. They claimed the management initially promised to bear all medical expenses but later failed to honour that commitment. The resort, however, described the incident as an unfortunate accident. It said all required safety protocols and operational standards for the zipline had been followed.
