KOCHI: The Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested a Bangladeshi national working at a private plywood factory in Ernakulam without valid documents. Muhammad Rathon Islam was arrested by the ATS from a plywood company in Vandamattam near Kuruppampady, Ernakulam. The officials said that Islam had been working at the factory for the past one month.

The ATS began a search after receiving a tip-off that a Bangladeshi national youth was staying in Ernakulam without the necessary documents. He was found during an investigation, which focused on details, including mobile phone location.

During the inspection, Bangladesh identity documents were recovered from him. He was handed over to the Kuruppampady police for further procedures and a detailed investigation. Police have previously arrested several Bangladeshi nationals who were allegedly working without proper documents at plywood factories in the Perumbavoor and Kuruppampady areas. The latest ATS action is part of the continuing investigation. Police are also probing whether any other networks were involved.
