Muharram holiday changed in Kerala; govt declares Friday as holiday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has changed the holiday announced for Muharram from Thursday to Friday. The government has clarified that the holiday will now be observed on Friday, while Thursday will be a working day.

The change was made based on the sighting of the new moon. Since Muharram 10 falls on Friday, the holiday originally scheduled for Thursday has been shifted to Friday.
