Youth beaten to death in dispute over money in brothel center

THRISSUR: A youth was beaten to death following a dispute that broke out at a brothel center. The dead has been identified as Dhanpati Naik (27), a native of Odisha. Four women and two men have been arrested in connection with the incident. The brothel center was functioning at a rented house in Thrissur. Police said the brothel was run by natives of Odisha. Only migrants were allowed entry here.

The youth was brutally attacked on the night of June 18 at the rented house located in Korappath Lane. Naik came to the centre run by migrants with three of his friends. A financial dispute with the owners ended in the attack. Though Naik, who suffered serious injuries on his head was rushed to Thrissur Medical College Hospital, he died Sunday morning while undergoing treatment.

Makkar Haji, Trinad Maji, who were with Dhanpati Naik also sustained injuries. The police have arrested Mohandi Naik, Nobi Hussain, Masuma, Nasreen and Machali Khatun. One of the operators, Bichu Naik, is absconding. Reports say that even the locals had no idea that such a brothel center was functioning in the city. The police have intensified investigation to find out if similar centers targeting migrants are operating in the city.
