Yet another mob killing? Beggar beaten to death in Palakkad; five arrested

PALAKKAD: A beggar was allegedly beaten to death at Moolathara in Palakkad. The deceased has not yet been identified. His body was found on Saturday in the bushes near a toddy shop close to the Moolathara Dam. A postmortem examination conducted at Thrissur Medical College later confirmed that he had been murdered.

The body bore deep wounds. Following an investigation, the Meenakshipuram police arrested five people in connection with the incident. The preliminary suspicion is that it was a case of mob killing. The police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Moolathara is a village along the Palakkad-Tamil Nadu border. According to local residents, the area where the body was found is a known haunt of anti-social elements.
