Clash between KSU-DYFI activists in Adoor; Case against Rahul Mamkootathil

PATHANAMTHITTA: A clash broke out between the DYFI and KSU activists at Adoor in Pathanamthitta. The DYFI organised a rally at Ezhamkulam in solidarity with the protests held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. The clash reportedly began after DYFI workers assaulted the KSU activists during the rally. The confrontation continued for several hours. Meanwhile, a private hospital was also targeted with stone-pelting.

Former MLA Rahul Mamkootathil was assaulted during the clashes. Following the incident, Youth Congress workers vandalised a car in which the CPM area secretary was travelling. The clashes began at around 7 pm yesterday and continued for nearly four hours. The injured were immediately taken to hospital. There are reports that Rahul Mamkootathil and others assaulted SFI workers.

The Adoor police have registered three cases in connection with the incident. A case has been registered against Rahul based on a complaint filed by SFI activists. Rahul has also filed a complaint against the SFI workers. The police have also registered a case for vandalising CPM leader’s car.
