KANNUR: The Facebook post by CPM leaders, desperately trying to wash their hands of the Dhanaraj fund irregularities, triggered outrage on social media. Incensed party workers and others came up with harsh criticism, forcing Kannur District Secretary KK Ragesh and former MLA TI Madhusudhanan to turn off their comment box.
As the criticism intensified, TI Madhusudhanan disabled the comment box. The two CPM leaders had put up a post about Dhanaraj on his martyrdom day.
“Former MLA sold Dhanaraj and made money. First, come out with a proper explanation on the fund transfer row. It is rather a pleasant sight to witness as old party comrades remembering martyrs again, as they have lost power in the state,” one of the comments that appeared on the post of Madhusudhanan.
KK Ragesh, meanwhile, alleged that fake communists have joined hands with communal forces to rupture the party.
It was V Kunhikrishnan, a CPM district committee member, who became the whistleblower, alleging embezzlement of the martyrs' fund. Kunhikrishnan then left the party and became an MLA with the support of UDF, creating an upset in Payyannur, a CPM stronghold.
