PATHANAMTHITTA: Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru reportedly wrote a letter to the Devaswom Board demanding his removal from the post of Sabarimala chief Tantri. Rajeevaru made the request, citing his ill health. Kandarar Rajeevaru is an accused in the Sabarimala gold theft case. However, the letter makes no mention of the gold loot case. As per the rotation system, this year, Kandararu Rajeevaru is supposed to perform the rituals in Sabarimala. However, in the letter, Rajeevaru requested that his son Brahmadattan be given the responsibility.
The Devaswom Board is yet to decide on this. In the wake of Tantri’s arrest in the Sabarimala gold theft case, the Devaswom Board will take a decision only as per the directions of the High Court.
Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru was earlier arrested by a special investigation team in the gold theft case. The investigation team found that it was Tantri who brought Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the gold theft case, to Sabarimala. Sabarimala employees also said that it was Tantri who gave Unnikrishnan Potty influence in the temple. The investigation team had also found that the Tantri paved the way for Potty as a sponsor.
