KSU calls statewide educational bandh in Kerala tomorrow; SFI calls for all-India class boycott on Friday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Students Union (KSU) has called for a statewide educational bandh on Thursday (July 23, 2026) in protest against the assault on Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi and other MPs during a demonstration against the alleged irregular conduct of the NEET examination.

KSU state president Aloshious Xavier announced that an educational bandh would be observed across the state. The student organisation urged students to boycott classes, burn effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on campuses, and express solidarity with students protesting across the country. KSU also said protest marches would be held at district headquarters as part of the agitation.

SFI calls for all-India class boycott on Friday

Meanwhile, the Students' Federation of India (SFI) has called for an all-India class boycott on Friday in protest against the police lathi charge on students in Delhi during demonstrations against the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. As part of its protest campaign, SFI will distribute Melody chocolates to police personnel across the country on July 25 and 26. The campaign has been named 'Return Gift' and is aimed at "teaching a lesson" to the police over the alleged assault on students.

SFI General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharyya said the organisation would continue nationwide protests until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. He also said SFI would organise protest gatherings across the country with the participation of people from the cultural sector.
