THRISSUR: A massive fire broke out at a firm functioning on National Highway 66 at Palapetty in Edamuttam, Thrissur. The fire broke out at Arian Tools and Components at around 11:30 pm last night.
The owner of the shop said around 40 large and small machines and related equipment were completely destroyed in the fire. The building also suffered extensive damages. The owner said the total loss was estimated to be worth crores. Several fire and rescue units reached the spot and brought the fire under control after hours of strenuous efforts.
The fire broke out shortly after the company was closed at around 10 pm and the employees had left for the day. Local residents were the first to notice the flames and alerted the fire and rescue services. A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire. The Valapad police also reached the spot and conducted an inspection.
Arian Tools and Components manufacture machinery and components required for the material-handling industry. Around 100 workers are employed in the firm.
