Rain, thunderstorms likely in next three hours; Alert in eight districts including Ernakulam

KOCHI: The Indian Meteorological Department predicted heavy rainfall in eight districts in the state in the next three hours. The rain warning was issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts. The notification states that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms in isolated places and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph. IMD has also advised that light rain may occur in isolated places in other districts, and necessary precautions should be taken.

Due to the possibility of strong winds, those living in unsecured homes and in homes with weak roofs should exercise special caution. Those aware of the danger have been advised to contact the authorities and relocate to safer places as a safety precaution.
