Vietnam boat tragedy: Victims of Kottarakkara to be laid to rest today

KOLLAM: The funeral of A C Thomas of Kottarakara and his wife Loveni Thomas, who lost their lives in a boat tragedy in Vietnam, will be held today. The bodies of the victims brought yesterday are kept in the mortuary of Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. Public homage will be from 10 am at the chapel of Mar Thoma Jubilee Hall. The final rites and the burial will be at the Kottarakkara Mar Thoma Valiya Pally cemetery this evening.

Victory Group owner A C Thomas and his wife Loveni had gone to Vietnam on July 7 for a vacation. Thomas and Loveni were among the 15 killed when a boat carrying tourists capsized bear Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The captain of the boat was arrested the other day in connection with the accident. The arrest was following the findings of violation of law. Police said negligence of the boat’s crew also contributed to the accident.
