Body set on fire, stuffed in drum; Horrific murder of 66-year-old woman shocks Palakkad, minor involved

PALAKKAD: An elderly woman was murdered by local youths in Palakkad in a dastardly crime. The body was set on fire and then buried during a purported robbery attempt. The incident took place in Kozhinjampara, Palakkad. Sarasammal (66), a native of Attayampathy. One person was arrested by the police in the incident.

Sarasammal had been missing since June 10. On June 12, her daughter filed a complaint with the police. During the investigation, the police became suspicious and reached out to the local youths. The accused had come to steal gold ornaments from the victim’s house. The murder took place during a robbery. Later, the body was stuffed in a drum and set on fire. The partially charred body was then put inside a sack and buried. According to the accused, a 17-year-old boy was also involved in the murder. A search is ongoing to locate him.
