Spa employee dies after falling into lake from houseboat in Alappuzha; police launch probe

ALAPPUZHA: A 34-year-old spa employee died after falling into the lake from a houseboat in Punnamada, Alappuzha. The deceased has been identified as Sharanya, a native of Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu. The incident occurred at around 12 midnight on Monday, police said.

Sharanya worked at the Butterfly Spa in Punnamada and had gone to the houseboat to provide spa services. Another woman from Assam was also on board with her. Police believe Sharanya accidentally fell into the lake while the two women were on the houseboat late at night.

Although people on the boat and local residents launched an immediate rescue operation, they were unable to save her. Her body has been shifted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Alappuzha North Police have registered a case of unnatural death and have begun an investigation. Police are also questioning five people from Tamil Nadu who were on the houseboat at the time of the incident.
