NEW DELHI: Leaders of the INDIA bloc will meet the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on Monday to seek intervention regarding the matter of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The delegation will meet Chief Justice Surya Kant under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Chief Justice has granted permission for the meeting to take place between 4 PM and 5 PM on Monday, based on a letter submitted by Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
Kharge stated that he would respectfully present their concerns to the Chief Justice and urge him to intervene. The Congress president also cited the lockdown in Delhi as a signal of the central government’s decision to not allow democracy to prevail in the country.
Meanwhile, the protest led by the Congress-led INDIA bloc, demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar, will resume in Delhi on Monday. Rahul Gandhi has called upon Members of Parliament to remain in Delhi.
