BHUBANESWAR: A baby with one body and two heads was born in the Kandhamal district of Odisha. The baby was delivered via cesarean section last Saturday. The newborn has been admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Doctors state that this is an extremely rare medical condition.

This medical condition, featuring two heads and two necks on a single body, is medically known as dicephalis parapagus'. The baby's mother is a resident of the Tumudibandh area of Kandhamal district. Reports says the father is a daily wage laborer. This is the couple's first child. The baby was born at just 32 weeks of gestation. The mother has been shifted for specialized medical treatment.

The baby was born with a pair of arms and legs. Further details regarding the structure of the child's internal organs and health condition have not yet been released. The baby is presently under the observation of a medical team. The birth of such children is reported only in rare of the rarest cases (occurring in just one out of three hundred thousand births).
