Son kills father with hammer after dispute over maintenance

THRISSUR: A man killed his father by hitting him on his head with a hammer in Madavakkara. The dead is Krishnan (89) of Madavakkara. The police have arrested his son Radhakrishnan (54). Krishnan was staying with another son and his body was found on Tuesday, seated against a wall inside the house.

Radhakrishnan had not attended his father’s funeral. The police had questioned some of their relatives after Krishnan was laid to rest. A wound near Krishnan's left ear and finding the door of the second floor opened led to a suspicion. An investigation conducted found that there was a property dispute in the family.

A court had ordered Radhakrishnan to pay maintenance to his father. Police said that after Krishnan filed a case over the non-payment of maintenance, the resulting animosity allegedly led to the murder. The Pudukkad Police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
