KOCHI: Director and Big Boss winner Akhil Marar has left the Twenty20 party. He left the party alleging that there is no freedom of action in the party and that it is not possible to move forward with them. Akhil also criticized the party's chief coordinator Sabu M Jacob. He started cooperating with Twenty20 just before the recent assembly elections. He was the NDA candidate from Thrikkakara.
‘I wanted to contest from Kottarakkara, but Sabu Jacob betrayed me. Reshmi was made the NDA candidate there after campaigning started. Promised to give me Tripunithura later. I haven’t told anyone that I wanted to contest in Thrikkakara. When I went there after saying that there were party members, only two were with me during the campaign the whole time. Sabu Jacob completely ignored me during the election time. He failed to answer my phone calls even after the elections. Twenty20 is a party that exists only to serve Sabu Jacob's personal gains. I have the screenshots of the WhatsApp chats between the two of us.
I sold the bike bought for Rs 20 lakh to raise money to contest polls. I did not even use the funds given by the BJP. I requested to appoint me as the Kollam district president after the election, but there has been no response for the past two and a half months. They remain silent when asked to interfere in public issues. Anjali has told me about the difficulties she faced. There have been issues in Ettumanoor as well,’ Akhil Marar said in an interview give to private television channel.
