Sweets, mirth and colourful processions; Believers celebrate Prophet's birth in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Muslims around the world are celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad today. Various programs are being organised in the state on the occasion of the Prophet's Day. Rallies and processions were organised from 4 am under the leadership of madrasas, mahallas and local committees to commemorate the birth of the Prophet.

Cultural activities and sermons on the message of the Prophet were also included as part of the celebration. The birth of Prophet Muhammad was on the morning of Rabi'ul Awwal 12, the third month of the Hijri year. Food was also distributed in mosques on the occasion of Prophet's Day. Colourful processions are being held across the state with various programs. Believers gathered at Prophet's Day rallies to distribute sweets and share love with each other. With Prophet's Day coinciding with Onam holidays, the celebration is even more intense this time.

In the evening, processions and special meetings are being organised at various places. Believers celebrate Prophet's Day by taking a pledge to embody the messages of Prophet Muhammad, who came as a messenger of peace, in their lives as much as possible. Milad programs of various Muslim organisations will continue in Kerala until the end of the month of Rabi'ul Awwal.
