KOCHI: No decision has been taken yet by the High Court against the judicial officer, also the father of the 17-year-old whose reckless driving led to the death of an innocent man in Cheranalloor.

Justice PV Kunjikrishnan, in-charge of Thrissur District Judiciary, wrote to the Chief Justice requesting the suspension of the judicial officer. A five-member administrative committee headed by Chief Justice Soumen Sen will take a decision in this regard. As the owner of the vehicle, the judicial officer is the main accused in the case under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicle Act.

In the meantime, the police received the footage of the 17-year-old driving the car from his apartment in Aluva at 1.36 am. The accident happened around 2.20 am on the same day.

The Motor Vehicles Department initiated proceedings to suspend the car's registration. A show cause notice will be issued on Wednesday to the judge who owns the car. He is accused of letting his minor son drive the car. Action will also be taken not to grant a license to a 17-year-old until he turns 25. The car was inspected under the direction of Motor Vehicle Inspector Bineesh Kumar on the instructions of RTO T. P. Yusuf. The Motor Vehicle Department found that the accident was caused by excessive speed, as they found no technical faults with the vehicle.
