Deep depression; Heavy rains to lash Kerala, yellow alert in 10 districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. Deep depression is located in the interior areas of North Odisha and over the nearby Gangetic West Bengal. It is likely to move west-northwestwards through North Odisha, South Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh during the next 24 hours. In this situation, the IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Kerala from July 28 to August 1.

Yellow orange alert has been declared in various districts. Today, there is a yellow alert in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rainfall is defined as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Meantime, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Delhi as well. A red alert has been declared in the national capital. There is a possibility of rain with thunder.
