KOCHI: The High Court pointed out serious irregularities in the audit report of Guruvayur Devaswom. The court observed that the Guruvayoor Devaswom committed lapses in online offerings and digital payments. The audit department told the court that the Devaswom authorities did not hand over the required information.
The audit report also found that the annual physical inspection of the valuables of the Guruvayur temple has not been conducted for 43 years. There are audit objections of Rs 54.59 crore between FY 2011-12 and 2019-20.
The auditor also found that the figures of gold, silver vessels and kumkum offered by devotees were not recorded correctly in the register. The court also directed that strict transparency be ensured in financial transactions. The High Court also directed the Senior Deputy Director to appear in person tomorrow to explain the status of the current audit.
