Vietnam boat accident: Hometown bids tearful adieu to Thomas and Launi

KOLLAM: Silence and gloom enveloped Chanthamukku as the locality gathered to bid adieu to the couple killed in the Vietnam boat accident. The funeral of Victory Group owner AC Thomas (Jomon- 57) and his wife Launi Thomas (56) of Kottarakkara Chanthamukku Kripanagar Aviyot house was held at the Marthoma Church. Thousands of people from different walks of life paid their last respects. The funeral was held at 3.30 pm under the leadership of Marthoma Church Supreme President Dr Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan.

On Wednesday morning, the bodies received by relatives from the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital morgue were taken to Aviyot house and then to the Marthoma Jubilee Mandir near Pulamon Junction. Kodikunnil Suresh MP, K.N. Balagopal MLA, Varghese Mammen MLA, former ministers K.B. Ganesh Kumar, Mullakkara Ratnakaran, Municipality Chairperson Anitha Gopakumar, Kummanam Rajasekharan, P. Aisha Potty and others came to pay their last respects.

The tourist boat capsized on Saturday near Phu Quoc Island in southern Vietnam, killing 15 Indian tourists.
